@JesseDornfeld I’m interested in Christian Death Metal as a thing, because it seems quite counter-cultural. Like Straight-Edge Hardcore was in the 80’s? And musically, I find it cathartic sometimes. Are there any good introduction to the scene, that you would recommend?
@JesseDornfeld It’s not a genre I’ve focussed on lyrically before, because the vocals are so buried. Most of the bands I liked were either political (environmental, leftist) or into morbid humour (eg. Carcass). I never got into the Satanic stuff, thankfully.
@JesseDornfeld When I was younger, late 80’s, a friend turned me on to Carcass (Reek of Putrefaction) and Bolt Thrower (Realm of Chaos). Napalm Death’s ‘From Enslavement to Obliteration’ was one of the first LP’s I bought. I’ve had a fondness for Death Metal and Grindcore ever since.
@JesseDornfeld I must admit that until I came across your posts I had no idea that there was such a thing as ‘Christian Death Metal’. It’s good that there are people in that scene proclaiming God’s truth. The scene attracts a lot of people searching for meaning.

@AndrewS76825037 God’s grace is evident from the moment he clothes Adam and Eve. But in Exodus he’s tried in so many ways. I’m wondering where that ‘angry OT God’ is - all I can see is the loving Father waiting patiently for his prodigal children to come back to Him!
Reading Exodus I’m struck at how patient the Lord God is. His grace demonstrated when his people turn to idols the moment Moses' back is turned. His forbearance in delivering two sets of tablets after Moses breaks the first in righteous anger at their turning away.

@realdanieltitus @bdabramson I read somewhere about how the start and the end of the Bible have some kind of chiasm or symmetry but I can’t remember the details. I’ll have to read Genesis 1 and Revelation 22 again.

@virginia_garret @Andy35o God relies upon nothing of our natural selves. Martyn Lloyd-Jones talked of how ‘personality’ in the Church often just meant the most worldly traits, the kind of things we shouldn’t look for in a Godly leader! God will find ways of working through all saints, in all ways!
