Morning all! Nick from the South West (UK!). It’s actually afternoon here 😀 #HealthyFaithChat

@CSLCHSnMore I already bought that tomorrow. #HealthyFaithChat

@AndrewS76825037 Delta is a lovely song. Wooden Ships was the highlight of the Woodstock soundtrack. I’d also like to put a shout out for Natalie which is terribly moving. I first heard it around when someone I love had a near-death experience with similar cause so that one hits me very hard.

@AndrewS76825037 @KevinObie1 @khutch0767 At least in part.

@AndrewS76825037 @KevinObie1 @khutch0767 I read this some time ago and I believe it’s a fair critique. I think this is what Kevin was probably referring to also. au.thegospelcoalition.org/article/review…

Of course the lyrics are from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; what a song by Pete Seeger - and what an arrangement by The Byrds. A timely reminder of David Crosby’s lyrical guitar, and those harmonies.

Very pleased to see this is fixed. The joy of posting image content does pale somewhat when half the image is obscured in the usual timeline view. twitter.com/TwitterSupport…

Matthew 6:13 This one line is so incredibly complex. And there it is, dropped into the principle example and model prayer of the New Testament. As a child, who learnt the Book of Common Prayer version of the Lords Prayer by heart, I never gave it much thought. t.co/SKDS4CFhs…

But now, when I think on it, I realise how incredibly profound it is. Got Questions has an interesting article that illustrates just how rich with meaning these words are. buff.ly/3WsHWin

The most recent song of his that I fell in love with -

It is shocking that Crosby made it to 81 given how badly he treated his body over the years. He is an artist that I wanted to see for years, but never did…

The very definition of a troubled genius. Crosby’s music and his influence on the singer-songwriter tradition is a legacy that will not be forgotten. t.co/59OywbKmn…

@men_like_trees @KevinObie1 @khutch0767 The more I grow the more profoundly Pauls insight in 1 Corinthians 3 speaks to me. t.co/M8En1VoeH…

@EhzNow I will come back to you on this once I’ve reread it with these comments in mind 😀 My original tweet was me trying to frame an understanding before that reread. I appreciate your pointers as I know there is context to Ecclesiastes that is essential to it being understood.

@men_like_trees @KevinObie1 @khutch0767 I think that is probably a universal truth! There are few individual teachers so far where I agree 100% but we can use the best of their works with wisdom and discernment.

@KevinObie1 @khutch0767 I love how the Bible Project makes the word accessible particularly to new believers via their art and their story videos. But I agree that past a point there are some troublesome spots theologically. But most people will miss these unless they go digging, IMO.

@EhzNow No. I was trying to make the point that within Ecclesiastes it is the repeated phrase ‘everything the sun’ that is the key to understanding the difficult passages. ‘Heaven’ was shorthand for knowledge of and walk with God; that which is ‘above the sun’ for want of a better word.

Genesis 45:7 Joseph and his brothers are reconciled. “God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors.” Joseph’s foresight, borne of slavery, saves not only Egypt, but Canaan and all the world

I was today years old when Ecclesiastes 1:14 had me realise that… Everything under the sun is futile and vexatious of spirit… Meaning in life is not to be found on earth. One must look to heaven for that 🙏🏻🤲🏻

@AndrewS76825037 One things for sure I’m going to have to read it again…

@AndrewS76825037 I’ve got David Pawson going through it right now. Then Matthew Henry. 😀

@NGetzlow Yes yes yes! Once Job clicks the poetry becomes clear and you realise just how well put together it is. It went from an enigma to one of my favourite books. I think it’s the boldness and how conversational it is.

Well I must admit that Ecclesiastes is a challenging book. People say Job is difficult, but Job is a breeze compared with this (Job is actually a favourite of mine now I feel like I get it). It might not take long to read Ecclesiastes, but it clearly needs time to understand it.
