@KevinObie1 There are far too many of those these days 😞
@KevinObie1 We should value heart knowledge as well as book knowledge, and know the difference between the two.
@KevinObie1 I suspect that a lot of people who add a disclaimer when they offer an opinion are humbly stating that they know they are fallible.
I would encourage everyone to care about sharing their love of scripture, the nature of God and salvation.
@KevinObie1 As someone without any formal training, I worry enough about my right to speak. There are plenty of seminary trained people with terrible opinions, and ‘bad theology’ so qualifications don’t necessarily equate to reliability.
@Curi_Christian @MarkGrote They had The Law and The Prophets after all. Lots and lots of detail on the Levite priesthood which would have laid a foundation for their understanding. Hence Hebrews setting out where the new covenant differed, or otherwise.
@AndrewS76825037 @Meredith_sHe That’s how I feel! I could have done so much in my youth. But I also wonder if I’m coming to it more maturely now. I think that was what He was waiting for with me.
@SethMetoyer @JesseDornfeld You sparked a conversation, and for that I’m grateful.
@Meredith_sHe 48. So many lost years. I suspect that those who have lived in the faith from an early age, don’t realise how complicated it can be when you truly come to Christ in middle-life. God meant it for a purpose, and I’m grateful that He found me.
@JesseDornfeld @SethMetoyer Sometimes Twitter demands linguistic formula that communicate what can be a complex idea in fewest words. You can write books on what it means to believe on Jesus (see what I did there) and what it means to be in a continual relationship with Him. Only God knows our hearts.
@peace_and_rest Pray for wisdom; if it gets too much, get somewhere safe. Reach out to someone local who you can trust in your church community, see if they can put you up, or find a safe place for a while so you can make firmer plans. If you are a carer for this person, seek help for them 🙏
Hebrews 12:1-2
Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith. t.co/XrFd33Kwj…
Hebrews 12:1–2 Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

@virginia_garret I hope you like this totally inappropriate GIF! Happy Birthday, Virginia! t.co/JHbSX2VwF…
@HeraldOfPurity @JesseDornfeld @OnTongues Thank you for the recommendation, Jesse, and the follow, @HeraldofPurity. Sound brothers in Christ are precious indeed, and to be treasured.
@JesseDornfeld @OnTongues @HeraldOfPurity Thank you Jesse, you are so kind. I feel the same!
@CSLCHSnMore A11. I believe that capital punishment has support, Biblically. I have grave doubts that it’s application is managed by people and a system that is anywhere near God’s perfect knowledge and will. I also wonder who benefits by death rather than incarceration.

@CSLCHSnMore A10. Thankfully I’ve never felt that unable to control my circumstances. More often I wished - for a moment - that I were taken there and then.
Now, I seriously know that no trial is too big, and that He will take me when He wants me. I’m OK with that. #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore The pandemic showed how quickly grace disappears when basic needs / comforts are threatened or removed. #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore A8. Mankind is naturally predisposed to conflict. Cain murdered Abel in creation’s 1st century. We are quick to anger & when I think of the herd mentality & willingness to turn on others, the bestial intinct to kill is only suppressed by available food & safety #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore A7. ‘Just War’ to me suggests the initiation of hostilities or forces by ‘us’ against ‘them’. Defending yourself against tyranny is justified but not a ‘Just War’ - it’s ‘Just Defence’. I cannot think of a war where the first move was made on basis of altruism #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore WW2 was for most nations a justified battle of defence against an expensionary and despotic force, an existential threat. #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore A6. I need to watch that. Many brave men and women fight but do not shoot a gun or fire a missile. Bomb defusers and Medics work in the most dangerous circumstances imaginable. The latter often treating both friend and foe.

@campbosco @CSLCHSnMore War is messy, whatever the motivation and the greater good. But all in God’s plan, even if we cannot fathom understanding of what that plan is. #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore A5. I’ve not been called to fight. Theoretically I can see circumstances where one nation moves against another in defence of the life and liberty of those being subject to tyranny, but in our fallen world economic and political interests drive war, not justice.

@CSLCHSnMore A4. I don’t actually believe it is the worst act a human being can commit. Certain forms of abuse sentence the victim to a living hell that must be worst than death. But life is sacred, and the choice between it and death should be for God alone.
