Easter week and my daily Bible reading has brought me to The Gospels. Coincidence or providence? I’m really looking forward to the good news. t.co/6xzOY9T1N…

@JesseDornfeld How come, Jesse? Changes to the algo?

Free to watch in April. Watch American Gospel: Christ Crucified from @gospel_american watchagtv.com/videos/america…

Matthew 21:19-21 Like the empty worship of the temple - a leafy fig tree promising fruit, but bearing none to eat. With just a few words, Jesus gave His disciples a lesson in God’s power, when we put our faith in Him. #wnaadv buff.ly/3ZGdB1j t.co/Yip7AmFV2…

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem the people wanted liberation. Crying ‘hosanna’ - ‘please save us’. But as he entered the city gate he turned towards the Temple, not the Roman garrison. He would bring them salvation, but not in the way they expected.

John 12:13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” #wnaadv buff.ly/3U1fGDG t.co/13QWah4ez…

@AndrewS76825037 @bisbanowrites Oddly, I can’t find the translation where it is ‘Thou shalt not lie’. Some say ‘lie against your neighbour’ which is the same as false testimony… 🤔

@JesseDornfeld Thank you for reading it! One curious thing today was that as soon as I finished it, but before posting it properly, I shut down my laptop and went upstairs. When I plugged it back in at my desk it refused to switch on, completely dead. Didn’t even seem to be charging.

“All that…

@KevinObie1 I get that, and I now realise that Tozer was writing in the mid 20th century, so perhaps the context was different back then, but in today’s society there is a massive hill to climb out of the incense and ritual many bought up on the outside associate with the Church.

@JesseDornfeld It was a bit of a jumble. I need an Editor, and more patience!

@KevinObie1 I don’t know much about Tozer, but it is a very prideful look.

@KevinObie1 For 2000 years the established church has been building walls around the simple and heart driven faith that we all want to get back to. It’s hardly surprising that new Christians might look in and wonder ‘how’. It makes me very sad that someone like Tozer should laugh at this.

@Carpet16100850 I have been somewhat resistant to it because it’s important to have a very solid understanding of the Bible before exploring the apocrypha. Especially when we only have so much time to read!

@Carpet16100850 It is my intention to read Heiser’s work on First Enoch and the Nephilim, soon, since 1 Enoch is where most of the early Jewish understanding of the Nephilim is found. You are right though, that many refuse to see this verse as a clear statement of fact. Likewise much of Genesis.

My thoughts on what it is to be a Christian, a music lover, and a collector. weneedanark.micro.blog/2023/03/25/a-c…

Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown. #wnaadv buff.ly/3fbjGBj t.co/pheVYsMEt…

@bisbanowrites A10. Yes. By affirming a falsehood someone hold about themselves, we are denying the truth; God’s truth. Why have we forgotten the lie of the Emperor’s new clothes? #HealthyFaithChat

@bisbanowrites A6. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘word issue’, but bearing false witness takes a hardened heart and is an affront to He who made all men in His image. A willingness to bear false witness is not a trivial sin and speaks of more fundamental heart issues besides. #HealthyFaithChat

@bisbanowrites A4. Thou shalt not lie is absolute. Bearing false witness is more a legalism. There are circumstances where a just lie may be necessary to save lives. For example Rahab’s lie to save the Israelite spies in Joshua. #HealthyFaithChat

@EllieR @bisbanowrites Yes yes yes. #HealthyFaithChat

@bisbanowrites A3. Where do I begin? #healthyfaithchat

@bisbanowrites A2. The Serpent, who misrepresented God’s words to Adam: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”” Genesis 3:1 #HealthyFaithChat

@bisbanowrites A1. Luke 16:10 - Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Honesty is at the foundation of civilisation and healthy relationships, with each other and God #HealthyFaithChat
