Luke 16:27-31
If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.

@JesseDornfeld I’m satisfied that there aren’t any contradictions, but there’s stuff I don’t know for sure. None of it is particularly important. Like you say, the stuff we don’t know is largely theological. How God works not if He works.
@Vinsaneforjesus At the end of the movie I hope!
@AndrewS76825037 Oh the conspiracy jibe was just a wry dig at how often I find that one ‘interesting’ verse gets skipped in my go-to commentaries. Its surprising how often it happens! 😉
@AndrewS76825037 I think that was why it jumped out the other day as I was reading Luke. Most of my commentaries conveniently skip v32. Coincidence or conspiracy?! To be fair, the New American Commentary states that Peter’s tiredness may have been the reason for his unprompted offer to make…
@AndrewS76825037 Luke 9:32: Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. You’re right it’s not mentioned in Matthew or Mark.
@AndrewS76825037 Hmm….
@AndrewS76825037 I just can’t imagine anyone close to Jesus being anything other than 100% wide awake during His Transfiguration, or in Gethsemene, especially as he’d asked them to keep watch! That’s what got me thinking about it thematically 🤔
I’ve been pondering a question recently: why did the disciples keep falling asleep. Famously, the disciples cannot stay awake in Gethsemene. An extraordinary situation given Christ made clear His time was at hand. But there’s also Luke 9:32, during the Transfiguration.
And then there’s Matthew 25:5, the virgins with their lamps, who fell asleep before the bridegroom’s return.
Is it the flesh’s weakness at critical moments? There’s clearly something going on.
Does 1 Thessalonians 5:6 answer? t.co/5KfYTbPRB…
@Vinsaneforjesus It looks absolutely beautiful! You’ll need a firm table! I’ve been tempted by the electronic version, but it’s baby steps for me at the moment: The ESV with Strongs 😄
Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them.
Of how much more value are you than the birds!
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

@Vinsaneforjesus Twitter Hot Topics are tailored to the interests of you and those you interact with. So they definitely amplify trends that are out there. And it doesn’t make any difference if you have interacted favourably or not to a topic. Twitter is only interested to get you posting.…
@CSLCHSnMore I accidentally microwaved a hot cup from the machine and it cooked my mouth so I don’t know how you do it. Perhaps you have stewed your input orifice with repeated exposure.
Me, I like my coffee either hot, or cold. Like all good Christians 😀
We residents of the modern world sometimes dismiss the supernatural. But it is clear from 1 Cor. 12 that there is still a place for miracles and other phenomena we would call ‘supernatural’. The occurrences are rare in this age, I believe, but there is much we cannot explain… twitter.com/JesseDornfeld/…
@CreatedforaPur1 This YouTube channel looks like a good resource… I feel some digital crate-digging coming on over the new few weeks 😀 youtube.com/@CCMPreservati…
@CreatedforaPur1 I definitely will!
@CreatedforaPur1 I’m just listening to the title track now. It is a great song. Strong lyrics. Pauline Wilson’s voice is amazing. I’ve got a bit of catching up to do 😀 Do you know any other God glorifying ‘jazz/fusion’ bands like this? It’s a style of music I really like.
@OnTongues @JesseDornfeld Doh you were quoting Luke, ha ha, I thought I recognised the parallel passage in Matthew. It’s late. Less haste more speed!

@OnTongues @JesseDornfeld 😀 I was thinking exactly the same thing, only from Luke, which I’m currently buried in.
@JesseDornfeld This is an excellent article Jesse. Very thorough. I hadn’t realised about ‘worst’ being analogous to ‘first’. Think of how we see the first offenders against God’s stated will being treated the harshest in their punishment - Ananias and Sapphira for example. I also think that…
