@JesseDornfeld @SecularOutpost If the Gospel accounts were made up you’d have thought they’d have made it more believable and made a bit more effort to cover all the bases.
@MikeWingerii Hi Mike I see you got your audio problem sorted for the Meme Jesus stream. What was the issue in the end?
@CSLCHSnMore Matthew and Genesis.
@life_exchanged @TheAndyGilmore Depending on their order of entrance into the world, ‘The Older’ and ‘The Younger’ would have been appropriate designations!
@CSLCHSnMore ‘Take 5 Minutes’?! John Gill took 15 years to go through that lot! SMH
@JesseDornfeld Scripture is very good at explaining itself! Some preachers have made a career out of doing just this 😇
@JesseDornfeld Sometimes, that ‘hot-take’ might not be so wise. James 1:19 t.co/sBYviljCV…
I will have to join you in the morning, um, tomorrow, because God saw fit to create the world round, and place us on opposite sides. 🌎🌍🌏☀️🌙 #HealthyFaithChat twitter.com/CSLCHSnMore/st…

This is amazing. Incredible to realise what delivery and diction can do to bring about a new perspective on familiar words. And a reminder of the oral tradition that preceded the written Word.

What are the boundaries? Am I overthinking this? Is this just legalism?! I personally think there’s a line that I’m confortable with, even if it makes me a weak brother. Let’s see what you think.
I am convicted about actors portraying Jesus or God, the latter because it’s difficult to portray a non-human deity without it immediately falling into parody, the former because of how actors come to personify the person they play. The portrayal comes to replace the real Jesus.
I also try to avoid paintings of Jesus that are too ‘real’, for the same reason.
With this in mind, I’d be interested in your view on whether honest, respectful and theologically sound artistic depictions of God or Jesus can be stumbling blocks.
In my opinion there is much beautiful art depicting Christian subjects. In the UK many traditional churches are magnificent and awe-inspiring spectacles. I am aware of Ex. 20:4 and the Catholic embarrassment about Graven images. But I’ve also seen pushback via Sola Scriptura.
This channel seeks to highlight some of the beauty in Christian art, and I use it is a meditation on key passages as part of my daily immersion in the Word. I am sympathetic to anxieties about personifying the Father or Son in a disrepectful way, or one which replaces Scripture.
