@JesseDornfeld @DrMichaelLBrown The best pastors speak to people of all times. I’m listening to sermons from ML Jones that were given in the late 1950’s and sound as fresh as yesterday.

Modern political parallels don’t need to stated so bluntly. Let the congregation draw the practical (political) conclusions.

@JesseDornfeld @DPGBehler My first thought when I read that too. He’s not serious though is he? He’s doing cosplay.

@men_like_trees Each Beatitude by necessity demands the others. They are a complete whole. Relative proportions may vary but only due to the imperfection of our unregenerate person. Nice people are in no sense responsible for their state. It is Gods grace that makes us conform to the Beatitudes

@men_like_trees The Beatitudes describe the person who is truly happy, truly blessed. All Christians are to be like this. There is no difference between ‘the religious’ and ‘the laity’. All are called to be saints. ALL Christians are meant to manifest ALL of the characteristics of ALL Beatitudes

@JesseDornfeld @SacredPanda21 @UnbelievableJB But clearly, any Prophet who does not have a 100% track record for truth is false. Anything less than 100% is just good luck.

@CreatedforaPur1 Thus far I have read Old and New Testaments end to end to maintain consistency of context but perhaps the focus on chapters is risking missing something… Food for thought and I will let you know how I get on.

@CreatedforaPur1 Thank you for this suggestion. I’ve downloaded the App and will check it out. Im keen to try a different approach to appreciating scripture more thoroughly. His Book by Book approach sounds interesting.

I’ve just completed reading through the New Testament in my Daily Study. I think I might focus on The OT Prophets next.

Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might focus for the next 3 months or so of good methodical, verse by verse study? Why? Any overlooked treasures?

@joeycochran Always my favourite super-hero when I was a kid 👍

@joeycochran You really should slip a Mad Annual in there somewhere, as a bit of an Easter Egg for that one person who insists on going through every last one of them!

@virginia_garret I count myself very lucky. There, but for the grace of God, go I.

@aivazovski_art Aivazoksky’s massive (3.5x2.5m) study on Noah’s Flood is breathtaking even on a tiny screen. He captures God’s wrath as awe-inspiring and absolute… It is easy to forget the fear and near finality of The Flood, and why it was necessary. Remember the rainbow. Genesis 9:13-17.

@virginia_garret Hi Virginia. Things have started to cool down today. It’s 21C now and other than supermarkets struggling to keep their refrigerators and freezers going no mishaps in part of the country. Some shocking scenes in London with fires causing significant damage. I hope you are well.

@shemaiahng My daughter had me complete a Q&A test which calculated the most appropriate result… spiritanimal.info/hedgehog-spiri… This seems to sum up all the positive attributes I’d like to have ascribed to me. I’m not sure how it compares!

@shemaiahng Mine was a hedgehog, which is cool, because it doesn’t get much cooler than a hedgehog.

@Carpet16100850 They have no idea what they’re talking about 😞

@JesseDornfeld Liking this post was very meta.

@AndrewS76825037 Thank you Andrew, I’m glad you found it helpful!

For those who believe 120 years refers to man’s lifespan, check Genesis 11:10 onwards for post-Flood lifetimes. A 120 year lifespan is not internally coherent.

Genesis 6:3 is a beautiful verse describing how the Spirit will not accept man’s carnal behaviour forever; time is up.
