@shemaiahng Praying for safety and comfort. I hope things look up and you make it home soon!

@Curi_Christian I’ve subscribed and will check out your other videos! Some interesting topics.

@Curi_Christian They were always there though, for all time, and they are evidence of His hand. One of the reasons why natural revelation is a thing IMO.

@Curi_Christian God is perfect, and so you will find perfection in his creation and how it came about. There are number sequences everywhere in creation. In fractals and the golden ratio and the laws of nature. These are not man-made. We like to think so when we ‘discover’ them.

@Curi_Christian Nice video! You spotted some things I hadn’t come across, the most important one being about Day 2 and i’t was good’ - which I’m going to have to think on more! My main comment is that God is the writer. Moses only wrote it down.

@Curi_Christian I’ve spent quite a long time thinking about it because it’s fundamental. But some things just aren’t that clear cut. It’s the same with Revelation 😀

I’m always learning. And hope I will continue to until my mortal body turns to dust.

@Curi_Christian I agree that there is more to it than ‘millions of years’. I hold loosely to my current view on Genesis 1. I believe that it is literally true, but I am unsure whether the days are man-days or God days.

@Curi_Christian I like to share what I know but I tend to form my own opinion and definitely avoid division. I don’t like argument much. I’m interested in what different views exist but more for my own understanding.

@Curi_Christian He’s very reliable. If there are multiple viewpoints he makes them clear. And he’s very thorough.

I’ve created a few Spotify Playlists of his major series. I find Spotify better than YT for portability.

@EhzNow Boyz II Men were vastly underrated.

@EhzNow One Sweet Day always makes me cry.

True humility in the presence of God runs throughout the OT. Having had a vision, Isaiah said ‘I am a man of unclean lips’. Paul in the NT was well aware of his own nature, his pride. That is why he uses the word ‘boasting’ so much.

#MLJbeatitudes

That, then is what is meant by being ‘poor in spirit’. It means a complete absence of pride, self-assurance and self-reliance. A consciousness that we are NOTHING in the presence of God.

The life we have lived or are trying to live, who we are, means nothing.

#MLJbeatitudes

Neither is this Beatitude popular in the Church today. Even in the Church today there is this foolish talk about ‘personality’. And personality something purely fleshy and carnal, and a matter of physical appearance. Humility is assumed as lacking in personality!

#MLJbeatitudes

But Paul in Corinth went in weakness, fear and trembling. People said he looked weak and his speech, contemptible.

But being poor in spirit does not mean retiring, weak or lacking in courage. It does not mean putting on false humility. Our personality must be true

#MLJbeatitudes

There is no more perfect statement of the doctrine of faith alone. It at once condemns every idea of the Sermon on the Mount which thinks in terms of something you and I can do ourselves.

It is emphatically NOT ‘Blessed in spirit are the poor’.

#MLJbeatitudes

It IS ‘not possessed by the worldly spirit’. It IS a poverty of spirit. Man’s attitude towards himself. Genuinely putting God first, and pride second.

This is despised by the world. Self reliance, self confidence and self expression. The hubris of mankind! #MLJbeatitudes

Chapter 4. Beatitude 1: Blessed are the Poor in Spirit.

The first, and the key to all that follows. It is an emptying. All others are a filling. The beatitudes are in a specific order for a specific reason. Pour out the old wine, before filling with the new. #MLJbeatitudes

@Curi_Christian Mike Winger’s Jesus in the Old Testament was an amazing eye-opener for me. I recommend his Mark Series as well. I’m also very impressed by Martin Lloyd-Jones Studies in the Sermon on the Mount (Spotify). His teaching blows my mind TBH. And to think they were just Sunday services.

@Curi_Christian People here have turned me on to a bunch of good stuff. John MacArthur’s archive on gty.org is amazing, I’m following David Pawson’s Unlocking The Bible series on Spotify (also on YouTube) and that is very good on Genesis.

@Curi_Christian Who do you currently look to for good teaching on the Bible?

@theBooneWeather @Curi_Christian I was obsessed with politics for years. Now… twitter.com/WeNeedAnArk/st…

@Curi_Christian Now, even I’m surprised at how much I desire a really deep understanding of God and his word. It’s true that you could spend a lifetime in study and still not exhaust the riches of His Bible.

@Curi_Christian @theBooneWeather As someone saved, some of the points apologetics defend just don’t seem necessary! Though I guess if they bring people to the Lord, it has its value for them 😀

@Curi_Christian @theBooneWeather I found apologetics interesting as I started on my journey but there came a point where I realised that faith had taken over, that the coherence of scripture and the work of the Spirit on my heart meant it didn’t mean what it did anymore. Now at times I find it an annoyance!
