Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water (Genesis 24:11-13)
And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water. And he said, “O LORD, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham.
Genesis 24:14 Abraham’s servant seeks a wife for Isaac.
I do love how the servant entrusted with such a significant undertaking, uses such a simple approach to discerning a kind and generous heart. bible.com/bible/59/gen.2… t.co/HxjEAUxog…
@CreatedforaPur1 This gives me hope. It took me 45 years to pick and read mine, but it gave me a new heart nonetheless. It’s never too late.
@Curi_Christian @lambeth981 And I’m sure his skin was very soft for a 30 year old… 🙂
@Curi_Christian @lambeth981 I’m sure that God explained to Adam more than is stated in scripture. About who he was and his role. The Bible doesn’t say that God gave Adam memories that weren’t his own. I do believe that he was made prepared for work and life but that is a different question.
@JesseDornfeld Nice exegesis Jesse.
I like how Galatians talks of the Spirit of His Son, and that it is they who brings us close to the Father.
I don’t think ‘Spirit of … Son’ appears anywhere else. It possibly emphasises how the Spirit can draw us closer to both the Father and the Son.
@Curi_Christian It might be different if you were raised YEC and OEC ideas weren’t given a fair hearing until much later.
@Curi_Christian What about you? I know you said you were YEC until relatively recently? Were you bought up in that milieu? Speaking personally I feel I have made a positive decision to embrace YEC, having previously taken OEC as given.
@Curi_Christian Science hasn’t given me a convincing case for OEC and I say that as someone who took for granted and absolutely believed in a materialist, modernist, billions of years creation, of whatever flavour was current amongst academia - for the first 40 or so years of my adult life.
@Curi_Christian I don’t look to science to make the case for YEC. I also worry that science as a whole has a worldview bias that means it is unlikely to ever invest in making the case for YEC.
@Curi_Christian I wouldn’t say it couldn’t. But it seems a long way off at present and demands faith in the unprovable and suspension of unchanging immutable laws of nature to explain observed phenomena. Perhaps faster than light travel or teleporting to a parallel universe would allow it.
@HonnieBunnie007 @men_like_trees Worth thinking about…
First day back at work after a week off… Made it to lunchtime! Must not forget Colossians 3:23… twitter.com/STRtweets/stat…
@CSLCHSnMore Quick! Someone check who signed the Book marked ‘Hebrews’!
@shemaiahng Yeah, that could have been tricky 😅
@shemaiahng Your husbands? Was it ‘Hey Ladies’ 😬
@JesseDornfeld Writing down mine is next on my ‘Long Reads’. I don’t have an interesting or dramatic testimony, but I do feel they are good context for knowing where someone might come from as we are all moulded by our experience. As a ‘later life convert’ I hope I can speak to others like me.
@JesseDornfeld I completely agree on that.
@JesseDornfeld Have you ever seen David Wood’s testimony. I find it incredible. I think testimony’s are important for fellowship. Especially for people who don’t believe they are saveable. And I count myself in that number.
On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it
Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all— so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
Genesis 19:24-26.
“For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.”
But not even ten righteous souls could be found in either Sodom, or Gomorrah. bible.com/bible/59/gen.1… t.co/csuVB0yAf…
@SpurgeonBooks Profound insights like this are why Charles Spurgeon is one of the greatest ministers of the modern age, even 130 years after his death. Every Christian should meditate on this.
