God’s rebuke that is to come at Job 38:1-3 surely speaks to him as much as the others. Job is reconciled and still blameless - God in His wisdom understands why Job feels as he did, but… 🔥🔥🔥

@men_like_trees That is a very good point and one I will take as a lens for the rest of the book. Throughout the Bible - NT and OT - Job is held up as one of the very few truly blameless people to have walked the earth, so anything that contradicts that must be suspect.
@men_like_trees I’d be interested in your opinion on a date for Job, given direct quotes of Psalms & Isaiah. The v. early dating of Job seems part based on infrequent use of YHWH, but that could be due to Job being written to be out of time & place, rather than just to Jews of a specific time.
@men_like_trees Someone speaking on behalf of God but from a man-based perspective - and without his authority. A bit like a ‘mansplainer’ who intercedes without invitation and adds no new value of their own.
@men_like_trees I’m taking Job slowly. But here’s a hypothesis. Elihu is rated no more than any of Job’s other friends. Is he a God-splainer? It could be a few days till I work through the text in detail. I’ll come back to this then.
