@campbosco @dilipkjena Yes, I bristled at the term ‘chose’ - God predestined, he didn’t ‘choose’. #HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A8. We are called to conform to the image of Christ.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son… And those he predestined, he called; those he called, he justified; those he justified, he also glorified. Rom 8:29–30

@dilipkjena A7. We are made new in Christ. We are not our past, or defined by our past, we are not bound by the sins of our fathers (or mothers).
Jesus also came to confound expectations. He was not the King the Jews expected.
#HealthyFaithChat
@StoneKamino @CSLCHSnMore You said it!! #HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A6. There are few greater displays of faith in the OT than Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, and Isaac’s willing acquiesence. Through this it was clear Abraham’s faith was total.
But only God could give His Son as a full and final saving sacrifice. #HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena I don’t disagree that there are many non-Christians who do far more to improve the world than some Christians. Their works will not save them though.
My answer was addressing the others. I think it’s still a valid response to the question 😀
#HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena Why?
@EllieR @dilipkjena Yes. And even within the established church the most overtly holdy have been found wanting, morally, or in character. And in many cases far worse failings than seen in regular people. #HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A4. There are many many people who have made a religion out of works. Often they come across as far holier than though. ‘Social Justice’ has become the new works religion for a post-religious age.
Overt display of works can hide spiritual or moral absence.

@agnesisaiah4110 @dilipkjena I really need to read Calvin… #HealthyFaithChat
@CSLCHSnMore Starship wrote a song about it! #HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A3. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
Intellectual assent to the existance of God, or Christ’s sacrifice is not enough. When the Spirit works in us, our heart is changed, and this manifests in a change in behaviour, or conviction, where none was before.
#HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A2. Kind words and sympathy do little for our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are expected to back these up with more material help, if we can. Hospitality in this case. Or our sentiments are likely hollow.
#HealthyFaithChat
@KevinObie1 @dilipkjena If we take seriously God’s gift of salvation and eternal life, and what Christ did to purchase it, you better hope it would be evident to those around us 👍
#HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena A1. Haha, that one! Well when James speaks of works he means ‘fruit’ - the outward indicators of a changed heart. If you are no less of the world after giving your heart to Jesus, are you really saved? The Spirit works a change in those who are.

@dilipkjena You know what happened to the leaders of the 12 Tribes when their people got up to no good… 😮#HealthyFaithChat
@dilipkjena Thank you Dilip! #HealthyFaithChat

@virginia_garret You seem to be getting a lot of these lately Virginia. Have you been naming and claiming again?!
Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. buff.ly/2uz8pD8 t.co/V4FAkEExE…
@men_like_trees @AndrewS76825037 @Carpet16100850 @CreatedforaPur1 @Curi_Christian @CSLCHSnMore @EhzNow @JesseDornfeld @StoneKamino @virginia_garret I must admit that I also tried to watch the Noah film and didn’t make it past the 30 minute point.
@johwhitt @AndrewS76825037 @Carpet16100850 @CreatedforaPur1 @Curi_Christian @CSLCHSnMore @EhzNow @JesseDornfeld @men_like_trees @StoneKamino @virginia_garret He will. I think that is what is happening.
@PTSPentax @RealPaulAhnert @AndrewS76825037 @Carpet16100850 @CreatedforaPur1 @Curi_Christian @CSLCHSnMore @EhzNow @JesseDornfeld @men_like_trees @StoneKamino @virginia_garret Thank you Scott, I think thats where I’m at, tho I’ve not watched it at all yet. There’s something that makes me uncomfortable about letting it in. There is purity about reading + understanding the Bible, + having the Spirit build that unfiltered relational understanding of God.
@johwhitt @AndrewS76825037 @Carpet16100850 @CreatedforaPur1 @Curi_Christian @CSLCHSnMore @EhzNow @JesseDornfeld @men_like_trees @StoneKamino @virginia_garret I hope that The Chosen brings people to Biblical churches, and to the true Gospel. If it does then it has achieved something. The word and image of God is a very precious thing. Its not something I can take lightly. Twitter’s maybe not the best place to articulate the conundrum.
