The Jews at the time will have seen the black and white prophecy in David. And we see the prophecy in Christ as technicolour.

Ruth wasn’t looking to seduce Boaz but to make clear her need for him as a redeemer (3:9). He reiterates that she is a worthy woman to drive home the absence of any impropriety.

Ruth was forced to take the initiative in quite an unorthodox way. I don’t think it has a lesson for modern marriage or dating though.

He clearly wanted Ruth but could only claim his right of redemption if the nearest redeemer was unwilling. The parallel with Christ’s redeeming quality is only partial, and a shadow.
